About Oliver:

--UPDATE 7-9-11: It turns out that after some testing, Oliver has Allergic Bronchitis. He is currently taking medication and is on weekly allergy shots to help him build up resistance to common allergens in this region. Despite all of the meds and shots, he remains a spunky little guy. Oliver is a heavy chewer and we are working with him to learn not to destroy toys but in the meantime, he LOVES bones stuffed with peanut butter. and Compressed Rawhide chews are also a favorite but his time with the rawhide needs to be monitored. He is after all a beagle and as any good beagle lover knows, they will eat until its gone! Hopefully, Oliver can find a forever home where he can be watched closely for allergic reactions since his allergies are not skin but instead are respiratory. --Hi!! My name is Oliver and I was on the loose in in the woods of Moore County when a really nice lady picked me up and took me to the vet. I was very under weight, full of worms except heart worm, and had pneumonia. I didn't even have enough energy to walk around for the first week. Thankfully, I had a warm place to sleep and food and water. After about a week, I began to have more energy and was able to take short walks around the horse barn and start learning not to potty in my crate. As the weeks have gone by, I am getting more energy every day and I really like to play with all of the toys in my new foster home. I even get to play with another beagle who looks like me and plays the same way. I'm a little shy when I first get to meet new people but once I warm up to you, I turn into a wiggle worm trying to wag my tail. I only have half of my tail so when I wag it, I have to try really hard. It's a lot easier to wag my whole body. I like my crate and when I'm in there, I'm as quiet as can be. And so far, I have only had 3 accidents in the house. I haven't quite figured out how to tell my foster mom when I need to go yet but I'm working on it. I'm a small beagle and weigh about 25 pounds. I'm a little scared of small children but I could definitely get used to some older kids that don't behave quite so unpredictably. I like being around other dogs but I'm also comfortable enough to be an only dog. I walk well on my leash and really enjoy sniffing everything. I also like to go potty on pine needles or any available bush. I'm also super curious and sometimes I growl and bark at things that I don't understand. For the most part, I'm quiet and don't bark when the doorbell rings and I really enjoy spending time with my foster mom petting me and scratching me behind my ears. Hopefully I will find my forever home as soon as I'm feeling better..... until then, I'm just enjoying the new life I have. Oliver is a lovable 25-lb. beagle who was found running loose. He likes other dogs, but would also be fine as an only dog. He is nervous around small children. He enjoys chew toys and ear rubs! Sponsor: Oliver is one lucky beagle! He has been sponsored by Matthew Momot and also by an anonymous donor in honor of Dutchfield Farms. The donor states, "In honor of Dutchfield Farms, Jeanette and Mary Jane, who without their kind hearts, Oliver wouldn't be here today!!" Thank you everyone!
