In Memory of Togy
Please read more here

Name:Togy
Age:12
Description:Togy traveled over the rainbow bridge on Feb. 2. Everyone at TBR loved Togy and will remember his enthusiasm for live.

His long term fosters were Loretta Thompson and her family. Here is what Loretta has to say in memory of Togy:

Togy was deeply loved by my family and me and will be deeply missed. We were his foster family officially for a year and a half. A dog with no home for so long became so much a part of our lives, even as we were ready at any moment to let him go to what may be his forever home. He was a unique individual who was a perfect companion to each and every one of us. Togy was no ordinary foster dog. He was our dog and yet he was everyone’s dog. He was a dog that would greet every stranger at adoptathons with total abandon and love, as if he knew them for years. He had his little fan club of tribeagle volunteers who adored him and he adored back.

The first day we took him in my husband Chad was at work. He worked nights and arrived home in the wee hours of the morning. I never crated Togy, even on that first day, which was so unusual for us. But he fit in our family from the first moment. My husband didn’t know what to expect as Togy barreled to him as he entered the house. Another heart was immediately won over completely as Togy greeted Chad as if he was his long lost owner. It wasn’t long before Togy was sleeping at my bedside, and I would glide to sleep on the rhythm of his snores. He would accompany me throughout the house, just happy to be there. No other dog has ever been my companion to that extent. Togy was special.

Togy fit our strange pack of hounds, as well. He stood his ground with my alpha dog, Harley, seemingly telling him, “Hey punk, I’ve been around the block a few times. Don’t try my patience.” He endured my perky adopted tribeagle Trudy’s unending need for attention, letting her snuggle up to him and follow him ceaselessly. Shelby, our beagle/basset mix, was of the same opinion as Togy of Trudy and Harley. They were two peas in a pod, just wanting to take a snooze in the sun.

Now it’s time to let Togy go, as hard as it is. We brought something special to each other’s lives. This was not just a dog to us, and certainly not an orphan to be pitied. He was Loved.
