|Good on leash|
Sadie came to TBR after her human mom was moved to assisted living. She never tires of getting pets. Sadie Jo is such a sweet girl! She loves to snuggle with her foster pawrents on the sofa or the deck. She sleeps well in her crate overnight, but barks a lot if crated during the day when left alone. She can be trusted with the run of the house for a few hours. She will go potty outside when taken regularly and hasn’t had an accident in several weeks, but doesn’t always alert when she needs to go out. She does still have some separation anxiety and barks if separated from her pawrents or the other dogs in the house. She would probably do best in a home with a fenced in yard and another dog. She is good with cats and kids.
Sadie Jo recently had successful surgery to remove several mammary masses and a thyroid mass. The mammary masses were mostly benign, but one was a grade 1 cancer. No further treatment is needed, but it is recommended to follow up with regular physical check-ups. It was also confirmed that she has thyroid cancer. Chemo has not proven to reduce the risk of metastasis for this type of cancer. It is recommended that she have routine monitoring and chest x-rays going forward. Dogs who have been treated with surgery like Sadie Jo have a median survival time of 2-3 years.
