Meet Snickers, a sweet senior beagle weighing about 26 pounds who is finally getting the chance to enjoy the good life. Snickers was surrendered to a rural North Carolina shelter after spending much of his life outdoors on a chain. Years of chewing on the chain wore down many of his teeth, and he now has only his molars remaining. That certainly does not slow him down at mealtime, though. Snickers loves to eat and is gaining weight and getting healthier every day!
Snickers is an affectionate, happy boy who absolutely loves belly rubs. He will happily run over to greet you and immediately roll onto his side or back to make sure you know exactly what he wants.
Don’t let the word “senior” fool you. Snickers still has plenty of energy and loves running and playing in the yard with his beagle buddies. He is long-legged and surprisingly speedy! He has even started learning to play fetch. He will happily chase the ball, although bringing it back is still a work in progress.
Snickers is wonderful with other dogs and especially adores children. He is sweet and patient with them and would love having a family to call his own. He also does well on a leash and is making great progress with house training, with only one accident so far in his foster home. He quickly learned how to use the dog door and navigate the stairs.
After spending so many years without the comforts of a home, Snickers is more than ready for soft beds, belly rubs, playtime, good meals, and a family who will love him for the rest of his life. This sweet, bubbly boy has so much love to give and is ready to find his forever home.
